<description>Hank and Jim's 12th Anniversary Special continues. In this segment, we hear an ancient WFAT call from Joe at The Controls, and the actual recording of the FCC bust of WFAT! <title>WFAT-AM - December 31, 1977 Part One</title>
<description>Thirty years ago is really when the legend all began. Hank and Jim signed on WFAT-AM as Hal Hall and Larry McRae for the first time on New Year&#8217;s Eve 1977 and the rest (as they say) is history. WFAT went on to become one of the most well-known US land-based pirates in radio history, and this is how is all began!

To mark the 30th anniversary, we&#8217;re happy to present almost the entire show as it originally aired. Part One takes us from sign-on to halfway through the program with only the tape&#8217;s original edits missing.

To read more about the WFAT days, please visit &lt;a href= "http://rfny.hankhayes.com/03_wfat.html"&gt; Radio Free New York&#8217;s WFAT page&lt;/a&gt;.

      <title>WFAT-AM - December 31, 1977 Part Two</title>
<description>With the first night butterflies slowly departing, &#8220;Hal&#8221; and &#8220;Larry&#8221; continue to go wild on this aircheck of the very FIRST WFAT show. Sit back, relax, flip on the groovy blacklight and it&#8217;s almost like being there, thirty years ago!

This is the start of something big &#8211; and it&#8217;s all here right up until the tape ran out. At the end, we&#8217;ve tagged on several extra minutes from a tape supplied by a listener in Pennsylvania!
